Chad to expel every one who seeks to destabilize Sudan
Sudan-Chad, Politics, 6/7/2003
An official source in Chad announced on Thursday evening that the government of Chad decided to "expel any person" seeking to destabilize Sudan.
The spokesman for the government of Chad Mukhtar Wawa said that "Chad's government decided to expel all persons suspected to have taken part in destabilizing this country or encouraging acts to this effect." In a statement, the spokesman added "this measure falls in the course of the care to abide by international obligations, on the one hand, and in the context of maintaining good neighborly relations with Sudan, on the other hand.
Clashes took place in March between Sudanese rebels and regular Sudanese forces at the Teini border town with Chad.
In his recent visit to Khartoum, President of Chad Idriss Deby vowed to support the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to overcome the rebellions.
However, this area is inhabited by members of Zaghawas tribe who are spread on the two parts of the borders between the two country, to which President Deby belongs.
