Italian foreign minister visits Beirut today

The Italian foreign minister Franco Frattini arrived today in Beirut and will meet on Sunday with the Lebanese President Emil Lahoud, speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and will conclude his visit with talks with the Lebanese foreign minister Jan Obeid to be followed by a joint press conference before he leave Lebanon.
The Italian minister will discuss with the Lebanese officials the situation in the Middle East especially that his country will assume the European Union rotating Presidency as from the beginning of July.
