Arab banks hold international congress in montreal
Regional, Economics, 6/4/2003
The Union of Arab Banks (UAB), comprising nearly 300 banks and institutions from more than 20 countries, will hold its international congress in Montreal June 25-26 on "banking in a different world."
Finance ministers, central bank governors and heads of bank and financial branches in the Arab states will be exchanging data and contacts on international finance and optimize cooperation and interaction between Arab and international financial communities.
After New York in 1996, Montreal will be the second North American city to host the congress that usually attracts some 500 participants. UAB hopes the congress will pave the way for a mutual cooperation between Arab bankers and the Canadian financial community.
Founded in 1974, UAB seeks to consolidate ties among its members, develop banking and financial practices in the Arab states, and enhance the role of the Arab banking and financial institutions in strengthening the social and economic development in the Arab region.
