Iraq-USA, Local, 6/3/2003
The American navy said yesterday that two small boats carrying four American soldiers and at least 3 civilians disappeared on Sunday in the waters to the north of the Gulf.
The US fifth fleet announced the two boats were missed while they were on their way to Shat al-Arab passage coming from the Iraqi al-Baker port.
In a statement, the naval communications office of the US Navy which takes Bahrain as a headquarters said that the two boats were on their way to al-FAO port in Iraq to transport Iraqis working in the field of oil.
The reason behind the disappearance of the two boats was unclear. The office added in its statement that one of the three civilians is an American and the two others are Kuwaitis.
