Criminals won't forestall Morocco's democratic drive, official says
Morocco, Politics, 6/2/2003
The criminal acts perpetrated on May 16th in Casablanca "will in no way forestall Morocco's democratization process," said here on Friday Morocco's Human Rights minister, Mohamed Aujjar.
"The speech (May 29th) in which H.M King Mohammed VI vehemently condemned these barbarous acts is, per se, the reference of the human rights culture in Morocco," stressed Aujjar at the opening ceremony of a workshop held under the theme: "Regional Communication and Local Democracy."
While noting that Morocco was targeted for its "deeply rooted democratic experience," Aujjar stressed the Casablanca terrorist plot only beefed up determination across the political spectrum to strengthen the Kingdom's modern societal project.
The Minister urged Moroccan people to be more vigilant, defend the democratic option and face up the terrorists' nihilistic and extremist view of the world, which, he said, is alien to Morocco's culture.
