Ukrainian ambassador statement on relations with Syria

Ukrainian Ambassador to Damascus, Vladimir Koval, highly lauded the modernization and development process which Syria witnesses under the leadership of President, Bashar Al-Assad.
In a statement he made yesterday in Damascus to SANA, Koval stressed his country's stand by Syria's strife for liberating her occupied territories and realizing just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the relevant United Nations resolutions, particularly 242 and 338, Madrid terms of reference and Arab peace initiative, approved in Beirut Arab Summit.
Koval pointed out to the distinguished friendly relations between Syria and Ukraine in the framework of the United Nations and the international Organizations.
'' Syria is an important economic partner to Ukraine.'' Koval said. He considered that the forthcoming meetings of the Syrian-Ukrainian Joint Committee as an important event for developing the bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields.
He touched upon several cooperation agreements which will be signed during the committee meeting including agreement for the establishment of Syrian-Ukrainian business council and discussion of projects and strategic plans between Syria and Ukraine in fields of oil, gas, electricity and transport.
