Al-Assad's wife inaugurates UNRWA's Loans program

The small business loans program was inaugurated in Damascus on Sunday with the attendance of Syria's First Lady, Asmaa Al-Assad.
Mrs. Al-Assad was welcomed by General Commissioner of the United Nations Relief and Work Agency, UNRWA, Peter Hansen, Director of financing program and small investment projects, Alex Polok, Director of the loans program in the West Bank, Miss Jean Jakaman and Director General of the Palestinian Refugees General Board, Ali Mosatafa.
General Commissioner of UNRWA, Peter Hansen, underlined the positive economic results of the loans program on the individual and social levels.
Mostafa pointed out that the project is a fruit of the continued efforts, cooperation and coordination between the Syrian government and UNRWA.
Later on, Mrs. Al-Assad presented four cheques related to this program to a number of Syrian and Palestinian citizens, and visited the branch of the loans bureaus and was briefed on the aims and the merits of this program.
The program is concerned with offering small capital as business loans for the establishment and development of thousands of small projects and insurance of the financial support for improving the life of the Palestinian refugees and inhabitants of Syria's countryside.
This project aims at finding new work opportunities, reducing unemployment, poverty, enhancing womens position and improving the life conditions.
