Sudan-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 5/31/2003
A high ranking Saudi Arabian security team arrived in Khartoum, Sudan, to help in interrogating 19 persons including 17 Saudis who were arrested over suspicion of being members in a terrorist network, according to a Sudanese daily yesterday.
The paper added that among the 19 arrested persons were one Palestinian and one Sudanese and they were arrested while they were conducting military training in a camp near Laqawa town in West Kardavan province, according to the Sudanese independent daily al-Hayat.
The paper said that the suspected persons were taken to Khartoum for further investigation after the local authorities made preliminary investigations with them. No official reply was confirmed to what the paper had stated.
Earlier this week, the governor of Kardavan said the detainees said they belong to no organization.
