Powell meets with Garang: the US optimist over end of the civil war

The US secretary of state Colin Powell in Washington yesterday held talks with the leader of the Sudan's southern rebels John Garang after which the US announced it is optimistic on the opportunities of ending the civil war taking place in Sudan.
The spokesman for the US state department Richard Boucher said the US consider the progress attained so far as good and that problems can be solved to achieve peace for the people of Sudan in all parts of Sudan. He added that this matter needs more efforts, and the American side is ready to continue making efforts to this effect.
