Canada announces $ 60 million plan for africa

Canada will earmark a $ 60 million budget to the Canadian Fund for Africa to develop humanitarian projects and improve farming and health conditions in the continent.
Canadian premier Jean Chretin made the announcement Monday before leaving for the G-8 summit in the French city of Evian.
He explained that out of this amount $ 30 million will go the building of an agricultural research center while $ 24 million will be earmarked for programs to fight AIDS and help AIDS-affected people. The rest will be used in programs to help African children victim of war.
