New York Times: US, Arab leaders summit
Regional-USA, Politics, 5/27/2003

American officials said yesterday that a summit including the US President George W. Bush, the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, the Palestinian prime minister Mahmoud Abbas will be expanded to include Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

The New York Times quoted officials at the administration of the US President George W. Bush saying that the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, the Jordanian King Abdullah II and the Saudi crown prince Abdullah will take part in the summit.

The paper added that the Arab leaders who supported the Roadmap will not make direct talks with Sharon because of reservations expressed by Saudi Arabia.

On the other hand, a prominent Israeli official indicated the possibility of convening a summit in Aqaba in Jordan, within three weeks, noting that determining the place and date of the summit is decided by the USA.
