Al-Shara contacts on developments, lifting Iraq's sanctions

Syria's foreign minister Farouk al-Shara yesterday received a telephone call from his Spanish counterpart Ana Maria Palacio during which talks dealt with the UN resolution 1483 which was adopted by the UN Security Council on Thursday on the Iraqi issue and lifting Iraq's sanctions and the importance of preserving Iraq's unity and territorial integrity.
Talks also dealt with cooperation between Syria and Germany to this effect.
Al-Shara also received yesterday a telephone call from the Lebanese foreign minister Jan Obeid during which the two ministers discussed issues on the agenda of Crete conference for the Euro- Mediterranean partnership and Tehran's conference for the foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
Discussions dealt with the UN resolution 1483 which dealt with means of lifting sanctions imposed on Iraq.
Al-Shara also received a telephone call on Friday evening from his French counterpart Dominique de Villepin in which they discussed voting on the said UN resolution and latest developments in the region. It was agreed to follow up contacts between officials in the two countries.
Al-Shara also received another telephone call from the Qatari foreign minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber al-Thani during which latest developments in the region were reviewed.
