Some 624 Palestinian houses; Israeli helicopter crashed, One Palestinian killed

A spokesman for the salvation services in Israel said that an Israeli helicopter crashed yesterday near the city of Qalqilya in the West Bank and resulted in wounding three Israelis.

Two Israeli soldiers and one settler were injured during incursion operations in the Palestinian territories.

The Israeli forces yesterday continued breaking in and incursion operations in various areas in the West Bank and Gaza, which resulted in killing one Palestinian and wounding five Palestinian students and arresting scores of citizens on charge of resisting occupation.

The Israeli forces reinforced its presence in the Palestinian cities and villages and installed military barriers and on-foot patrols in all parts of Jerusalem and its suburbs of fears of new Palestinian operations against the Israeli soldiers.

A Palestinian source at the office of Saeb Oreikat, the chairman of the negotiations departments, who resigned from the Palestinian authority, said that the Israeli authority refused to give him a license to enter Jerusalem to take part in a lecture in one of the faculties.

A spokesman for the Israeli occupation army said that the army destroyed and demolished 174 houses for Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza during the few past months.

A statement by the Israeli radio said that 129 Palestinian houses were destroyed in the West Bank and 45 in Gaza.

The statement explained that 556 Palestinian houses were destroyed under the pretext of being built unlicensed and 624 houses were destroyed since the beginning of the Palestinian Intifada in September 2000 in various parts of the West Bank.

One Israeli soldier was wounded when he was fired near al-Negev bus station, in retaliation to the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
