Bush visits Qatar, Kuwait after Europe and Russia; tripartite summit of Bush, Abu Mazin and Sharon in Geneva

US diplomatic sources said that President George W. Bush will talk for the first time with the Palestinian prime minister Mahmoud Abbas ( Abu Mazin ) face to face during a tripartite summit, to be attended by the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, who postponed his visit to Washington because of the deteriorated security conditions in Israel following the escalation of suicide operations.

The sources added that the tripartite summit comes following an intensive "lesson" by the White House officials on the need for a serious effort by the President to break the ice which overwhelms the implementation of the Roadmap proposed by the Quartet for starting Palestinian- Israeli negotiations for the founding of a Palestinian state by the year 2005.

The summit comes in the context of the tour to be held by the US President for several European states and Russia and also expected to cover Kuwait and Qatar where Bush will inspect the American forces there. Should such a visit be made for the two Arab Gulf states, it will be then the first of its kind.

American sources say the US President skipped a visit to each of Israel and the Palestinian areas, the same did the US President Bill Clinton when his visit was futile, but the sources consider that a tripartite summit bringing him face to face with Abbas and Sharon would be of more important results if real determination by the American administration is taken into account to carry out the roadmap regardless to the price.
