Moroccan journalist gets 4-year prison sentence for libel

Moroccan journalist, Ali Lmrabet, was sentenced this Wednesday to four years in prison and a fine of 20,000 DH (US$ 2,000) by the first appeal court of Rabat
Lmrabet, who manages two weeklies was sent to prison immediately after the sentence was handed out. The court also ordered the banning of the two satirical publications, French "Demain Magazine" and Arabic "Doumane." He faced charges of slander of the King's person and offense against Morocco's territorial integrity and sacred values.
