Morocco takes part in APU executive committee meeting
Regional-Morocco, Politics, 5/21/2003

A Moroccan delegation is taking part in the 42nd meeting of the executive committee of the African Parliamentary Union (APU), opened here Tuesday.

Participants will ponder several issues pertaining to the union organization, including membership applications, the activation of the previous APU congress resolutions and recommendations and preparation of the agenda of the union's 26th congress.

Speaking at the encounter, secretary of Libya's General Popular Council, Zinati Mohammed Zinati, underlined the necessity to establish bases for democracy, grant importance to human resources and fight terrorism and poverty.

Zinati called the international community to assume its responsibilities to guarantee balance in international relations and support the Palestinian and Iraqi peoples.

The meeting will probe the follow up of decisions and recommendations made at the 25th congress of the union held in Khartoum last October.
