On Darfour incidents in Sudan

The minister of social and cultural affairs at the Sudanese Darfour West province, which borders Chad, Col. Abdullah Adam announced that the clashes which erupted recently in the market of Malli town in the province resulted in killing 54 persons, half of them members of the Sudanese police and the other half are citizens.

In a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Ayam ( days) issued yesterday, Adam accused the outlaw armed looting groups of being behind these events. He attributed the eruption of these incidents to the dissemination of weapon illegally in the hands of citizens in the town.
