Original David's psalms kept in Coptic museum
Egypt, Local, 5/20/2003
The original copy of the Book of Psalms, which dates back to the 3rd or 4th century AD is kept inside the Coptic Museum, said Zahi Hawas, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA).
In statements to MENA, Hawas dismissed the reports that the Psalms of Prophet David were stolen from the Coptic Museum.
Hawas said the Psalms are religious hymns and litanies, adding France has got a non-original copy of this book that dates back to the 18th century.
Recent reports said that some important archaeological pieces, including the Book of Psalms, vanished from the Coptic Museum during inventory.
Hawas said the Book tells the history of the Jews and contains their prayers, rituals, traditions and litanies, adding the Book, one of the most valuable ancient religious manuscripts, is part of the Holy Book's Old Testament and was written in Coptic language, the accent of Bahasa, a village in Beni Suef.
Hawas said the book of Psalms was excavated in a tomb beneath the head of a girl child in a cemetery near the governorate of Beni Suef.
