Al-Watan: Saudi human rights committee to be declared within days
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 5/20/2003

An official source at the Saudi Arabian foreign ministry said that the civic human rights committee which was approved by the Saudi King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz includes 40 members of university teachers, members of the Shura council, lawyers and certain academics will be announced within the few coming days.

In a statement to the Saudi daily al-Watan issued yesterday, the source explained that the state run human rights committee will be run by an official at a ministerial level and is directly linked to the King.

He indicated that the human rights committees existing in the governmental departments will be merged under one umbrella and will contribute to giving citizens their full rights and protect them against public authority violations.
