Arab- American delegation starts tour on the region in Cairo

A delegation representing Arab Americans, currently visiting Cairo, marking the beginning of an Arab tour, continues its activities after a meeting with the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Maher, the secretary general of the Arab League Amr Moussa and many others.
The chairman of the delegation Nasser Beidoun said that during the meeting objectives of the economic and cultural forum organized by the Arabs of American origin in collaboration with the Arab League were reviewed. The forum will be held in Detroit, the USA on September 28- 30th. Beidoun said that the main objective of the forum is to rebuild the relations between the Arab world and the USA and to work for making use of the economic relations as a driving force in this regard.
Concerning the main pillars on which the Detroit forum will concentrate, Beidoun said that the first of these pillars concentrates on economics, then comes technology and human development with a special focus on boosting youths and encouraging woman's development in the Arab world. He indicated a proposal to establish an Arab gathering including under its umbrella all Arab societies in the USA. He expects that the next American Presidential elections will be of more effective role for Americans of Arab origin.
He continued that through this forum "we try to convey a clear message to the American society and the media on the true image of the Arabs and the Arab civilization which is deeply rooted in history dating back to thousands of years, with the aim to eliminate the misunderstanding that followed the incidents of September 11 in the USA." He also stressed the need of continued efforts to improve these relations in all fields between the Arabs and the USA, hoping for progress in these relations in all walks of life in future.
