Syrian building industry exhibition opened in Damascus

SyriaÕs Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Ghassan Rifaee, opened on Thursday the 9th session of International Exhibition for Building "BUILDEX 2003."

Chairman of the Syrian Trade Chambers' Union Rateb al-Shalah participated at the opening ceremony.

In a statement to SANA's correspondent, Rifaee stressed that these international exhibitions aim at helping economic development.

He expressed appreciation over the distinguished and active role of BUILDEX in displaying advances in the building industry and building materials.

For his part al-Shalah stressed that the Syrian products are competing with foreign products and entered the stage of export in the world asserting the importance of the exhibition in expertise exchange among the exhibitors.

It is worth mentioning that more than 300 local and international companies are taking part in the exhibition representing 1000 local and international trade- marks from 34 states. The exhibition will last untill 12th of the current month and is being organized on the exhibition ground of Damascus International Fair.
