Djibouti-USA, Politics, 5/9/2003

American officials announced yesterday that the unit of terrorism fighting operations in the African Horn area is transferring its headquarters to the land in Djibouti on a high- tech ship and is sending additional forces to the region.

The force which is conducting exercises in the water near the coasts of the African horn said it is transferring its leadership's headquarters from the Deck of the USS Mount Whitney ship to " Camp L' Munierre " Camp which used to be affiliated to the French army and is now controlled by the government of Djibouti.

A statement issued from the ship said that the "mission of the joint work forces of the African horn was and continue to monitor, and challenge terrorism through the national border in collaboration with the coalition's partners in the African horn."

The statement indicated that the new telecommunications network in "Camp L'Munierre " Camp ensured better and faster telecommunications.
