Rabat hotel purchased by International Hotel Group
Morocco-Egypt, Business, 5/8/2003
"Chellah," a famed hotel in downtown Rabat, was purchased by the Denmark-based "Helnan international Hotels" group, reported Tuesday the Cairo press.
President of the hotel group, Enan Jalaly, an Egyptian businessman, said "Helnan international hotels" are currently making renovations to "Chellah" hotel before it is reopened next summer.
"Chellah" will comprise 120 rooms, several suites, restaurants and conference rooms, he added.
Jalaly considered that "Chellah" hotel will allow the international hotel group to expand activities in Morocco, underlining that it has decided to purchase plots of land in Marrakech to build five-star hotels.
"Helnan international Hotels" group is particularly interested in Morocco for its tourism assets, especially proximity to Europe.
