Amr Moussa to start Maghreban tour
Regional-Maghreb, Politics, 5/6/2003
Secretary General of the Arab League, Amr Moussa, will start Tuesday a tour in Algeria, Tunisia and Libya.
Sources close to the Secretariat General of the Pan-Arab body said Moussa's talks with Maghreban officials will deal with the situation in the Arab world after the Iraq War, the role to be played by Arab states to preserve the region's unity and means to enable Iraqis rule their country.
Talks will also cover the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the implementation of the Roadmap and the revision of the Arab League's charter in light of several member states' proposals.
Amr Moussa has entrusted a commission of experts with preparing a draft revised charter that will take into account members' ideas, mainly the Saudi initiative presented at the Sharm Al Sheikh Summit, Hosni Mubarak's proposal to create an Arab common security system as well as Libya's Leader of the Revolution Colonel Muammar al Qathafi's idea to create an Arab Union.
He had recently been to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria and Qatar.
