Chalabi threatens the Jordanian King of Iraqi intelligence documents
Iraq, Politics, 5/6/2003

Ahmed Chalabi, the chairman of the Iraqi National Congress, announced he has 25 tons of Iraqi intelligence documents some of which address accusations to the Royal family in Jordan.

Chalabi told the Newsweek magazine in its recent issue "they are actually confusing documents," remarking that some of these documents relate to the Jordanian King Abdullah II. Chalabi added that King Abdullah who assumed the throne in 1999 was worried over his relations with Saddam Hussein, And that he was worried over what will happen. Chalabi refrained from giving further details.

Chalabi had established a Banking empire in Jordan during the 1980s which was bankrupted. After the bankruptcy of the Petra bank in 1989, he was sentenced by a Jordanian military court in 1992 for 22 imprisonment over looting and use of influence.

However, Chalabi accuses President Saddam Hussein of conspiring against him when he was close to the Jordanian regime and to the governor of the Jordanian central Bank Muhammad Saed al-Nabulsi. Chalabi is considered the most likely by the US defense department and the Congress to rule Iraq after the formation of an interim Iraqi government. Chalabi who is currently in Baghdad said he is not a candidate for any post of the interim Iraqi government and that his role is to "help in rebuilding Iraq."
