Egypt-Sudan, Politics, 5/5/2003
Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak's ground breaking visit to Sudan, the first in more than 12 years, was historic. It injected new blood in integration agreements between Egypt and Sudan.
Information Minister Safwat Al Sherif said that President MubarakÕs talks dealt with means to activate organisations set up within the framework of Egyptian-Sudanese integration and reviving all elements of integration agreements between the two states.
President Mubarak and Sudanese President Omar Bashir were keen to stress SudanÕs unity.
The two Presidents are keen that the new generation in Egypt and Sudan should be aware of the importance of integration, Sherif said. Agreement was reached to arrange mutual visits between the youth of the two countries in groups each made up of 100 young people.
Sudanese youth will join the international youth camp at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh and Egyptian youth will visit Khartoum and southern Sudanese areas.
