On the Sudanese president's visit to Libya
Sudan-Libya, Politics, 5/5/2003

The Sudanese foreign minister Mustafa Othman Ismael has stressed that the talks held by President Omar Hassan al-Bashir with Libya's Leader of the Revolution Colonel Muammar al Qathafi on Saturday dealt with bilateral relations, the march of peace in Sudan, the situation on the Arab arena, especially in Iraq and Palestine and means and ways of improving the current Arab conditions.

In an arrival statement back from Tripoli on Saturday evening, Othman added that the talks dealt also with the incidents in Darfour, to the west of Sudan, noting that this matter was discussed within the framework of the joint security committee chaired by the ministers of the interior in the two states and leaders of their security departments.

Othman denied that the visit of the Sudanese president was aimed to contain any tension in the relations between the two states. He also denied that the visit aimed at eliminating the tension in Sudan's relations with Eritrea.

On the debated integrated constitution between the states of Sudan, Libya and Egypt, the Sudanese foreign minister said that there is discussion on a draft proposal and that Sudan will study it and then give its due answer on it.
