Inauguration of the internet prepaid system

Ali bin Masoud al-Sinaidi, Oman's commerce and industry undersecretary at the Commerce and Industry Ministry presided at the Omani International Exhibitions Center today over a celebration marking the launch of the prepaid internet card service.

Oman's news agency ONA said:
This service offered by Omantel is considered as the most advanced service in the field of International Internet service. It keeps with the advanced service rendered by the company to her customers and the mass revolution in the field of Internet.

The chief guest said this inclusive Al-Ufuq (horizon) card is expected to be broadly accepted by the public specially among tourists who usually carry out shuttling visits to the Sultanate, as well as important to the students who are in need of this service to be updated with the information technology.

The holder of the Al-Ufuq card will be able to go through different Internet webs as the internet subscribers, although h does pay monthly or annually fees.

Eng. Mohammed bin Ali al-Wahaibi, Omantel Executive President said Al-Ufuq card is provided with the user name and password, the user can login to the internet by using the service number (1314). The user also can visit Al-Ufuq web site at address (www.al-ufuq.om) to check the account history which includes validity and balance of the card.

The user can also download the desktop features time remaining on available account balance, as well as additional warning messages when the time remaining drops below 5 minutes.

It is worth to mention that the prepaid internet card is disposable, once used it can not be re loaded, the financial classification of the card is prepared to fit different pockets RO. 6/card valid for 3 months and RO. 10/card valid for 6 months.

Procedures of using the Al-Ufuq card along with other useful details are printed on one side of the card.

Al-Wahaibi added that the SMS service for Hayyak subscribers would commence on June 1st and that the company was currently reconsidering the tariff of the internet, Hayyak, GSM, fixed phone and other services.
