Syrian presence at Washington's symposium

Chairman of Information Department at the Syrian Foreign Ministry, Butheina Shaaban, stressed on Saturday that peace in the Middle East can be achieved by ending Israeli occupation and implementing the principle of "land for peace."
During the symposium that was hosted by Foreign Relations Council in Washington, Shaaban added that Syria has been working for just and comprehensive peace in the region and it stands against terrorism stressing that the policy of Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, that is based on destruction and extermination is the reason for tension and absence of peace in the region.
