Al-Assad meets with US senator Lantos

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received in Damascus on Saturday US Senator Tom Lantos and an accompanying delegation. Talks during the meeting dealt with several issues of the region, particularly the situation in Iraq and peace process in the Middle East.

Later on, Lantos, in a press conference clarified that his visit aimed at reviewing the situation in the region particularly in Iraq, the peace process in the Middle East in addition to issues pertaining to bilateral relations between Syria and the United States.
