ADB 110 mln euro loan to Morocco
Morocco-Regional, Economics, 4/26/2003
The African Development Bank (ADB) granted on Friday a 110 million Euro loan to Morocco to support health coverage.
The ADB loan will go to help improve health care in Morocco and increase Moroccans' access to quality health care.
To carry out health reforms, Moroccan authorities are joining efforts with international partners to implement a series of measures to improve people's financial access to health care, reorganize the health system, redefine the health ministry's mission and set forth a national strategy to develop human resources in relation with the sector.
With this new loan, ADB's commitments in Morocco reaches nearly US$ 1.8 billion for 71 operations, said the African Bank's deputy-president, adding that the bank will continue to bring support to Morocco development projects.
The loan agreement was signed by Morocco's ambassador to Tunis, Abdellah Belkziz, and ADB deputy-president, Theodore Nkodo, at the head office of ADB's temporarily re-localized agency in Tunis.
