Iran and pressures against Syria
Syria-Iran, Politics, 4/24/2003

Iranian Spiritual Leader's Political Advisor, Ali Akbar Welayati, has expressed appreciation over Syria's wise stance under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad regarding the Iraqi question in spite of the US. accusations against Syria.

In an interview broadcasted yesterday by the Iranian TV, Welayati said that the American pressure over Syria is not new, but Syria was and still is able to face and challenge this pressure that is targeting Syria's attitude against the Israeli occupation.

He stressed that "the U.S. aimed at terrorizing all the countries in the region, force them to adopt its policies, end the Palestinian Intifada, build military bases, and supporting the Zionist aggressive plan in the region."
