King Abdullah: Washington has to deal fairly with the Palestinian issue
Jordan-Palestine, Politics, 4/24/2003
The Jordanian King Abdullah II has stressed that the basic matter for the conflict in the region is the Palestinian question. He said that should the US seeks to maintain a balance in the region, she has to deal fairly with the Palestinian- Israeli conflict.
In an interview with the BBC yesterday, the Jordanian king added that "if the Americans want to prove they are fair concerning conditions in the region, they have to work for the liberation of Palestine."
The Jordanian king explained that the US had to pave the way for the Iraqis to run the affairs of their country, warning that contrary to that, "we will face the hazards that Iraq will be converted into Cantons. A mater which everyone fears."
He expressed his conviction that the coalition against Iraq has lost much of its credibility in the world when it launched its war against this country and that there is a lot of criticism for the prevailing state of chaos. He called on all sides to cooperate and coordinate concerning Iraq.
The king stressed the need of quick move so as the Iraqis will be able to form their government and draw a new national charter, calling on the US to quickly transfer the authority to the Iraqis.
