Regional, Economics, 4/23/2003
The executive bureau of the Arab ministers council of electricity met here Tuesday to examine the agenda of its 5th session, scheduled Wednesday.
The bureau adopted several draft resolutions that will be submitted to the ministerial council, mainly on the project to connect power grids of the Maghreb to Middle East countries'.
Saudi minister of industry and electricity, Hachem Ben Abdellah Yamani, said participants have examined several issues related to the implementation of the Arab Summit resolutions on Arab electric interconnection and support to electric equipment industry.
The bureau rejected any talks on the participation of the council to reconstruction of Iraq.
Libyan minister of electricity, Amran Ibrahim, deemed it "irrelevant to discuss this issue especially that Iraq is under occupation." (MAP)IS
