Iraq, Politics, 4/23/2003
ABC news said yesterday, according to information it had received from the Iraqi National Congress that the toppled Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was seen three days ago in a meeting for members of the Baath Party.
The report explained that members of the Baath Party have started to come out of their shelters they were hidden in during the war and started to meet within several meetings, noting that they are well-armed.
ABC quoted the Iraqi National Congress as saying that one member of direct circles of Saddam Hussein is trying to do something with the Americans, noting that a meeting was held recently at the request of the Iraqi intelligence at the house of one tribal leader in al-Ramadi, 100 Km to the west of Baghdad to discuss the possibility of making consultations with the Americans, but the venue of the meeting was bombarded and that person was killed in addition to 17 members of his family.
The ABC correspondent said that members of the tribe saw Saddam Hussein in the neighborhood, adding "we do not now whom to believe." On Monday, the leader of the Iraqi National Congress Ahmad Jalabi said in an interview with the BBC that Saddam Hussein is in Iraq and is moving continuously.
