Algerian prime minister denies determination to resign
Algeria, Politics, 4/22/2003
Algeria's Prime Minister Ali Benflis denied by the end of the week that he has the intention to quit the Algerian government, and he thereby put an end to news debated by the Algerian press several days ago on his intention to leave the executive. He also denied news talking about differences between him and the Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika.
He told the Algerian dailies from Mauritania, where he had presented Algeria to the works of the higher bilateral committee in Nouakchott that his government proceeds in implementing its policy. He stressed that behind these rumors are persons who want Algeria to rest back and to cut the way before the greater reforms started by the current government.
Worthy mentioning that Ali Benflis belongs to the Liberation Front party. This party won the previous legislative elections with 199 seats in the Algerian parliament and this pushed the president to elect his first minister ( the Premier ) from this party.
