Al-Assad meets with Qatar's foreign minister

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received on Monday the Qatari foreign minister Shaikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber al-Thani.

Al-Assad received a letter from Sheikh Hamad sent by Amir of Qatar, Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, concentrating bilateral relations between Syria and Qatar.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the current situations in the region.

The meeting was also attended by deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara and the Qatari ambassador to Damascus.

Earlier in the day, Qatar Foreign Minister and his wife arrived on Monday in Damascus in an official visit.

In a statement to SANA correspondent, Sheikh Hammad said that he is conveying a letter to President Bashar al-Assad from Prince of Qatar connected with bilateral and brotherly relations between the two states.

He added that "Qatar rejects the American threats against Syria and we are awaiting for the visit of the US Secretary of State to Syria and the results of this visit that will put the relations between the two countries on the proper path."
