Sudanese president describes visit to Syria as successful
Sudan-Syria, Politics, 4/22/2003

Sudan's President Omar Hassan al-Bashir has indicated that his visits to Syria and Saudi Arabia have attained a boost in bilateral relations, particularly in spheres of agricultural investments and trade exchange.

In a cabinet session chaired by President al-Bashir yesterday, the cabinet was briefed on the outcome of his visit to Damascus and Riyadh and on the talks he held on the requirements of the Arab action in the face of the current dangers threatening the region.

The cabinet approved a plan for Sudan to join the World Trade Organization.

In comments to the Sudanese Newspaper "al- Hayat al- Siasieh" and the Oman Newspaper "al-Watan" published today, the Sudanese president underlined that his visits to Syria and Saudi Arabia aim at making consultations on the situation in the region especially in Iraq.

He stressed that Sudan cannot accept a foreign administration in Iraq but an Iraqi administration elected by the Iraqi people themselves.

He warned against the war repercussions calling for Arab solidarity to put an agenda to the next coming days.
