Arab figures denounce US. accusations against Syria

Egyptian Presidential Political Advisor Osama Al-Baz has condemned the US. accusations against Syria.

In a speech published here by the Emirates Newspaper "al-Ittihad," al-Baz said that the logic of threatening Syria is the real threat against peace and security in the region, adding that Syria wants peace in the region in line with the international resolutions and the withdrawal of Israel from the occupied Arab territories.

He added that some circles in the American administration are marketing the accusations against Syria, stressing that these circles are more interested in fulfilling the Israeli interests than the American's.

For his part, Former Chief of the Egyptian Nuclear Energy Staff Fawzi Hammad indicated that there is no evidence of Syria's possession of mass destruction weapons at a time when the U.S. turning blind eye to the Israeli nuclear energy.

In a speech he delivered in Abu Dhabi at Zayed Center for Coordination and Follow Up, Hammad said that Israel possesses between 200 to 300 nuclear bombs and arsenal of biological weapons.

Hammad demanded the establishment of a mass destruction weapons free zone in the Middle East in line with the UN Resolution No. 687, article No. 14 in order to preserve security and stability in the region.

Another condemnation of the US. accusations against Syria was voiced by Pakistani Foreign Minister, Khorshed Mohammed Kasori.

In a statement published by the Saudi Newspaper "Riyadh" Kasori expressed his country's rejection of these accusations.

He expressed relief due to the US. Secretary of State Colin Powell's visit to Syria that aims at starting dialogue with Syria.
