Al-Assad- Mubarak hold summit in Damascus
Syria-Egypt, Politics, 4/21/2003

Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, left Damascus on Sunday after a short visit to Damascus where he met with President Bashar al-Assad on the latest developments in Iraq.

Both sides stressed the importance of safeguarding Iraq's independence, unity and sovereignty and their care on consultation and coordination in this important stage which the region is passing through, SANA reported.

Both sides exchanged viewpoints regarding repercussions of the situation in Iraq on the whole Arab situation and the importance of having a joint vision regarding that.

Foreign Minister, Farouk Al-Shara and his Egyptian counterpart, Ahmad Maher briefed Al-Assad and Mubarak on the meeting of Foreign Ministers of Iraq's neighboring states held in Riyadh last Friday.

Both sides viewpoints were clear and identical regarding ending the occupation of Iraq and reaching an Iraqi government which represents the Iraqi people, SANA said.
