Regional, Economics, 4/19/2003
The Union of Arab chambers of trade, industry and agriculture will meet next May in Manama (Capital of Bahrain) to activate the Arab joint market project and discuss the impact of war in Iraq, the Union's chairman, Khalid Abou Ismail, announced.
Abou Ismail told Egyptian "Al Youm" that Arab capital abroad, estimated at about US $800 million, should be invested in the Arab world.
The Union will work for the promotion of investments, particularly in realms related to trade such as freight, transport, storage, funding, insurance, packaging and marketing.
"War on Iraq will weigh heavily on international and inter-Arab economic relations, mainly trade exchanges," he added.
