Meeting of foreign ministers of countries neighboring Iraq in Riyadh
Regional-Iraq, Politics, 4/19/2003

Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Prince, Saud Al-Faisal, has asserted his country's rejection of the US accusations directed against Syria.

In his speech on Friday in the meeting of Foreign Ministers of Iraq's neighboring countries, Al-Faisal underlined that such accusations may escalate the situation in the region particularly with increasing deteriorated situation in the occupied Palestinian territories resulting from the Israeli brutal practices.

He welcomed declaration of the U.S. Secretary of State, Colin Powell, to visit Syria for reviewing the Syrian-American relations.

Al-Faisal called on the United States to depend on dialogue means with Syria and to return to the Arab Initiative as a framework for putting an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict.

He stressed the necessity of safeguarding Iraq's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Al-Faisal called on the United Nations to boost its role in Iraq.
