On the involvement of his brother Ahmad in the issue of the Jordanian Petra bank, Jawad said that Ahmad was the victim of a political deception in Jordan and that he did not receive a just trial from the Jordanian military court which sentenced him in absentia for 22 year imprisonment on charges of cheating and involvement in the collapse of the bank.

Jawad al-Jalabi said that the "late Jordanian King Hussein ordered punishing measures after my brother appeared in the USA TV program 60- minute as he accused the King of getting bribes over selling arms to Iraq."
