Saddam is still alive, a treason by certain leaders of the Republican Guards
Iraq, Politics, 4/17/2003

One of the founders of the Baath party said that the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is still alive. Lawyer Ahmad al-Najdawi said in a statement to the Jordanian weekly al-Shahid ( the witness) said that he received special information from associates to the Iraqi leadership that President Saddam had Friday's prayers in one of the mosques in west Baghdad and that he is with his leadership in positions where he leads the resistance in a new phase.

Al-Najdawi added that breaking into Saddam's airport by the American forces was the "password" and the signal for the leadership of the Republican Guards for the implementation.. But the Republican Guards did not interfere as expected in the fighting -- while Arab volunteers, Saddam Fedayeen and the Bathists had fought.

He admitted that there were violations and that several leadership from the Republican Guards were totally absent from the battlefield and therefore the military forces were absent and even the general security was absent ( and were part of the conspiracy).

Al-Najdawi added that when the situation became clear, the Iraqi leadership chose to move to another sites, and that the leadership is still alive and Saddam and his leadership are planning the work for a new phase of resistance. He refused to call what had happened as a coup. He added "regrettably what had happened was not a coup against Saddam, rather a coup against the Iraqi national regime.."

He stressed that the Baath Party in Jordan will continued its activities and will not be desolved after what had happened in Baghdad.
