Iraq-Regional, Politics, 4/15/2003
Head of the Arab Labor Organization (ALO), Ibrahim Kouider, denounced the "war of extermination in Iraq and Palestine," and the "blackmailing that the superpowers exert on Arab oil-producing states."
The Cairo-based organization said in a release on Saturday the US occupation of Iraq and the destruction and looting accompanying it are meant to annihilate the intellectual identity of the country and destroy the scientific achievements of Iraqis who achieved remarkable scientific breakthroughs, which constituted a priceless capital for the Arab world and a threat to Israel.
The US occupation is also meant to expel Iraqi scientists to deprive Arab and Iraqi generations from their knowledge, experience and scientific achievements, the communique goes, exhorting international organizations of heritage and culture protection to intervene urgently. Kouider also denounced Israel's refusal to recognize "the national rights and sovereignty of the Palestinian people, deeming threats against Syria the start of a policy aimed at dissolving the Arab and Islamic cultural identity, and at stopping the Arab cultural evolution in the different fields of science and knowledge.
