Pan-Islamic body calls for end to anarchy in Iraq
Regional-Iraq, Politics, 4/12/2003

The Rabat-based Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) on Friday called on the international community to immediately put an end to the anarchy currently prevailing in Iraq.

ISESCO, an agency of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), decried what it called the "cynical indifference" of the US and British troops regarding the destruction targeting educational, scientific and cultural institutions as well as mosques and monuments in Iraq, plunging the country in a state of chaos, terror and insecurity.

The Organisation rejected on the US and Britain the "legal and moral responsibility" of these "deliberate" acts of destruction in Iraq. This situation of chaos is particularly harmful to the future of this Arab and Muslim country and to international peace and security, ISESCO said.

The dignity of the Iraqi population as well as their security rest on the shoulders of the "aggression forces," the organisation said, calling on the United Nations Secretary General and the five permanent members of the Security Council as well as on all specialized international organisations to take urgent measures to put an end to the situation of chaos in the region.

The security of the Iraqi people now lies with the two countries that invaded this country, namely the USA and Britain.
