Al-Assad talks to Annan: complete American withdrawal from Iraq

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received a phone call from the Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan.
Talks dealt with the exerted efforts to reach a state that ensures Iraqi stability and peace.
Al-Assad stressed Syria's position against the war and its dangerous repercussions.
He also pointed out that the only way to build a better future for the Iraqi people is by complete American withdrawal from Iraq, so the Iraqi people can exercise their right of self determination.
Al-Assad asserted that Syria will exert intensive efforts regionally and internationally to help the Iraqi people overcome their crisis and preserve their integrity, safety and sovereignty.
