Important arch. corner in Graeco-Roman museum opens

The Graeco-Roman museum in Alexandria Wednesday witnessed the inauguration of an important archaeological corner that dates back to the 4th century BC, which includes artefacts excavated in the village of El-Bahnasa, Menya governorate that overlooks Bahr Youssef Canal.
Excavation works began in this area with the beginning of the 1798 French expedition through French archaeologist Dino, and then resumed in 1981 and 1992 through a Spanish mission.
Ancient plaque comprise the Byzantine and Christian Era and some of them in gypsum highlight part of the parable of Jonah with the leviathan as well as the Statue Osiris.
Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) Secretary General Zahi Hawas said a pavilion was chosen in the Graeco-Roman museum as a temporary premises for these antiquities.
