Arab group at UN summons general assembly meeting on iraq

The Arab group at the United Nations on Tuesday summoned a meeting of the organization's General Assembly. Head of the group for the month of April, Yemen's delegate, Abdullah Alsaidi, sent a letter to the president of the General Assembly, Jan Kavan, asking that the assembly hold a meeting on the situation in Iraq, spokesman for the general assembly, Richard Sydenham, said Wednesday.
The general committee of the assembly will be meeting Friday to examine the request, he said, adding that Kavan will be holding separate meetings in New York Thursday with secretary general of the Arab League, Amr Moussa, and head of the Arab group.
