Morocco wishes end to Iraqi people sufferings
Iraq-Morocco, Politics, 4/11/2003
The Moroccan government wishes that an end will be put shortly to the sufferings of the Iraqi people so that they can freely make their choices, Moroccan communication minister, Nabil Benabdallah, said yesterday.
Benabdallah, who is also spokesman for the government, said the status of the Iraqi diplomatic representation in Morocco "will be decided by the Iraqi people."
"Morocco will respect the choices to be made by the Iraqi people," the official told the press at the end of a weekly meeting of the government council, chaired by Premier Driss Jettou.
To a question on a possible role by Morocco in the reconstruction of Iraq, the minister said "the tragic circumstances that the Iraqi people are undergoing are not suitable for tackling such an issue."
